Blackwater
Campground Rules,
Regulations and Policies
** All Pets must be
leashed and
attended at all times**
You must clean
up after
your pets. Anyone who lets their animal run, whine, howl,
etc.
will be asked to remove it from the campground. Anyone who has to
leave because they can't make their animal behave does not get a refund
just because their pet is the Alpha in the family.
** No refunds for
unused portions
of any advance fees paid, regardless of circumstances **
If you are
ejected from
the campground for a breach of the rules, you are not entitled to a
refund
of any kind.
** Fires are only
permitted in
lined fire pits approved by the management, barbecue grills, or in
stoves
using propane, butane, or other approved fuels **
Leaving any
fire unattended
is prohibited! It is the responsibility of all campers to completely
extinguish
all fires.
Root fires are an extreme hazard in sandy soil. All fire pits
MUST
be lined for this reason! At certain times of year, or during extreme
drought, open fires may be prohibited.
** Please be gentle
with the campground
**
Anyone who
damages the
property of the campground intentionally or accidentally is
responsible for the cost of the repairs The undersigned
understands
that he/she is responsible for any damages (accidental or otherwise )
he
/ she does to the campground. No cutting of live trees is
allowed!
No alteration to the site is allowed without the express permission of
campground management. Any damages arising out of the actions of
the undersigned, are the financial responsibility of the undersigned.
** Special events held
at Blackwater
may have special rules and fees **
Please see the
event coordinator
regarding event specific information.
** No Hunting Allowed
At Blackwater
Campground !!!
We have
hikers, nature
enthusiasts, and children running through the woods year
'round.
On request we will be happy to provide visitors with a list of places
in
the area that they can hunt. The Virginia Coast offers some fine
hunting; white tail deer, seka elk (on the shore), turkey and various
small
game can be found in abundance. We are sorry but we do not sell
hunting
licenses at Blackwater Campground. There are several
places to purchase hunting and fishing licenses in the immediate
vicinity.
** No Swimming
is permitted
in the lake **
In addition to
the cute
little otters and beavers there are several species of poisonous
snakes that call Blackwater Lake home ..... not to mention some
snapping
turtles as big as a hub cap. We have a deal with these
creatures.
If we don't swim in their lake, they won't swim in our pool :-)
** Fishing in the Lake
is permitted....
and encouraged **
There is
something special
about catching your own meal. Blackwater Lake is well stocked with
small
mouthed bass, channel catfish, pike and other fish we don't know the
names
of. No fishing permit is required because Blackwater Lake
is
a privately owned and stocked lake. If your line gets snagged
while
you are fishing and you lose a leader line PLEASE let the office know
right
away. We understand that these things happen and we are equipped
to retrieve the lost line before a turtle or a goose gets tangled
in it.
** Alcoholic beverages
are permitted
at your campsite only! **
Obnoxious
drunks will be
ejected from the campground. Obnoxious drunks who are
ejected
from the campground do not get their money back because they made us
waste
our time on a drunk. NO GLASS BOTTLES of any kind are permitted
off your campsite! We are tired of taking kids with cut feet to
the hospital for stitches.
**The camp wide speed
limit is
5 M.P.H. **
We strictly enforce this rule. PLEASE
drive
slowly and carefully! There are children ...and grown-ups at play
:-)
** PARENTS ARE
RESPONSIBLE FOR
THE ACTIONS AND SAFETY OF THEIR CHILDREN!! **
The owners,
management
and staff at Blackwater are not, and will not be, responsible for
your children!
Blackwater is a wilderness site with
numerous
hazards that are attractive to children. While
everyone
thinks of watching their children near the lake, please realize that
the
stream which surrounds the entire site is deep enough to
represent
a threat to a young child. There are animals that bite in the
woods
and insects that sting. There are holes and logs and
all kinds of places where little hands (and big hands)
should
not go. Blackwater is open to the general public and you should
be
aware of where your child is at all times. This is
good
advice anywhere you go.
