I saw your e-mail, and I am in the same boat.  I bought a computer system from Computer City on 05/03/98, with a three year warranty PLUS package, that expires on 05/03/2001.

Now I have a problem with the modem, and since that Computer City location is now COMP USA, I took it to that store.  They plainly refused to honor the warranty.  I argued with them just like you, that since I have the warranty, and since COMP USA has bought Computer city, they should honour the warranty.  They were extremely rude, and after fifteen minutes of my blood pressure blowup, I left.

Now they say that the computer city warranty has been bought over by TANDY, Radio Shack company, BUT WITH A TACK.  Tandy will honor Computer City warranty only for the products purchased before December 1997.

For products after DEC 1997 to Aug. 1998,  will be honored by a company called IDS.  Tandy gave us 1-800-305-1302, which is the same number printed in the warranty papers.  When you call this 1-800 number at any time of day or night, nobody picks up saying that due to heavy volume, the call will be put on hold.  It also greets as "Computer City Warranty Plus". The call is never ever answered.

The bottom line is, just like you I am also stuck with this MOST RUDE COMP USA, who is not ready to honor the computer city warranty.  Have you got anywhere with this case, since you went through with this horror much earlier.  Let me know how I may be of help to you to legally to punish COMP
USA.

Yours truly
Ananth
