Blessings: My complaint involves Circuit City & Compaq, and my
Mom. Two years ago I bought a Gateway (a complaint in and of itself).
My mother then wanted a computer "just like mine" so we went shopping.
Mine was 8.4 GB hard drive, 64 MB RAM, and some other stuff, for a price
of $X. In Circuit City they had a Compaq with tags and stickers all
over it saying "9 GB hard drive, 64 MB RAM" and all the other stuff - just
like mine. At the time I was totally computer illiterate, but needed
one for work. So we buy hers, take it home, set it up. Now,
two years later (and I am a lot more
computer
savvy) ... she had trouble with it. I went over and did the simplest
thing (that a novice may not even know how or why to do - which I did NOT
when we bought it.) I clicked on "My Computer" - then I clicked on
"C:\". Guess who spent the same $X amount for a 4 GB hard drive and
only 32 MB Ram? Too late now! I feel there was some false advertising
on the part of Circuit City and/or Compaq. Lesson: Never go
computer shopping without taking someone with you - who YOU know and trust
- to verify what you're getting!
