I am sure glad that I am not the only one being treated this way.  In May of 1998 I purchased a Compaq Presario 1220 laptop.  Within the first 6 months of having the computer I began having mouse problems and software problems.  While using my computer for normal usage, such as writing papers for school or playing solitare my computer would prompt up "an illegal operation has been performed and must be shutdown".  I contacted what was then Computer City and informed them of my problems.  They tried a couple of times to fix the problem over the phone.  No Success.  They then sent me out a restore disk twice within the first year.  This was also an unsuccessful attempt.  I called Computer City Back  and they instructed me to send the computer back to them for repairs.  In July of 1999 I sent the computer for repairs and the mouse was replaced and a new restore disk was sent to me, but they informed me that there was nothing they could do to fix my other problem.  After receiving the computer my problems were still occurring, so I called them back, AGAIN.  They tried a couple more ideas over the phone;  guess what, UNSUCCESSFUL.  I contacted them again in Jan. 2001, my warranty was still in place.  All they could tell me was to ue my restore cd every time that it happened.  When I contacted them again on Julyy 12 2001 for either a repair or replacement, the supervisor in technical support for AON Innovative Solutions became very beligerant with me, started raising her voice at me, would not give me the phone number for corporate headquarters, andhung up on me THREE times.  I hope that my novel can help you and myself.  Please e-mail me with any advise or information.  Thank you.
