Hello, I have a complaint that could save people $17,000. Don't, I repeat DO NOT attend the Hampton,VA campus of ECPI EVER.

I have been a student here for over a year. Since my education began here, I have had nothing but grief.

I have a severe back injury that requires me to take the elevator at school instead of the stairs. This was documented, by my therapist, 3-4 times BEFORE I started school. Seven months into my education, I was told not to use the elevator or I would be kicked out of school. This was after I brought in a doctor's note. THEN, they called my doctor and requested my MRI scans. For those of you who don't know, that is illegal. After months of fighting over this, I was told that I could use the elevator. Two weeks later, I was told that I couldn't park my car where I was parking it.  The problem with that is that I
had been parking there for 6 months. That was straightened out, only to find that they have decided that the students have to have a note if they are absent. I was told that I could write the note myself by the school provost, because I'm an adult. Now, I'm being told that the notes have to be 3rd party. Fine, my boyfriend is an EMT, so when I was absent due to  breathing problems, (that my boyfriend treated my for) and he wrote a note, it wasn't accepted. That was the last straw for me. I'm 24 years old, my mom's been dead 10 years, my dad lives in florida, I've been living on my own since I was 16, AND I'm paying to get an education, not a hassle. If I'm absent, I'm absent, I am too old to have to have a note to justify my whereabouts to an institution that doesn't give a damn about educating me.  The worst part of all of this is that 98% of the teachers are not competent to teach ANYTHING. If you've seen the  commercial where the guy is in a cleansuit, holding a silicon chip talking about ecpi and how fabulous it is, don't believe it. I've been here over a year and I have yet to see a cleansuit OR a silicon chip. I also have had a problem with my schedule. I was supposed to graduate on Sepember 3, 1998. The lady that does the schedules "forgot" to give me 3 classes that I HAVE to have in order to get my degree, when I approached her about this
after it was brought to my attention, she told me to "suck it up."  This was after I told my boss and my landlord that I would be moving out of state on September 4th. Now the admin staff at school has no idea when I'm graduating. I can't quit or I have $14,000 in student loans that have to be paid immediately. If I wait til I graduate, I have a six month grace period.

If you are smart, when you see an ecpi building you will run. Run fast, run far, and never look back.

Thank you,
Ginny
